Danube Bend (8-9 Hours)

8-9 hours | Coach needed

The Danube Bend – an excursion into Hungary’s history. This is an unforgettable tour along the “Blue Danube” with stops in Esztergom, Visegrád and Szentendre. After leaving Budapest we drive across the woods.

Esztergom was the first royal seat of Hungary. The town is the Northern gate of the Danube Bend – the centre of the Hungarian Roman Catholic Church. We visit the largest cathedral of Hungary. Afterwards, we glance across the river and enjoy the view over to Slovakia.

Visegrád: we walk on the 750 year-old stones of the formal Royal Castle, learn about life in the medieval times and enjoy the fascinating panorama on the Danube valley.

Possibility to have lunch in a local restaurant in Visegrád.

Szentendre: On the way back we stop in the artists’ village of Szentendre, which is a small baroque town at the Southern gate of the Danube Bend, in a beautiful natural setting. Wander around the baroque settlement, built on medieval ruins and go along the narrow streets. We then simply enjoy the special local atmosphere. We can also visit the famous Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum. Then the guests have the opportunity to go for shopping or to visit the other interesting museums.
